How to Find Company Information

Here are two good databases to use to find basic information about companies:

QUICK INTRODUCTION TO ONESOURCE

OneSource contains profiles of thousands of companies from all over the world. To access the profile information, you need to access the database and load the company you are researching.

Once inside the database, type the company name in the search box and hit Enter to search.

If your search returns several possible matches, choose your company from the list and click on its name.

Once the company is loaded, the left-hand column provides links to many pieces of information about the company. Available information includes

  • Company Summary
  • Executives
  • Analysts' Reports
  • Strategic Initiatives
  • Strengths/Weaknesses (SWOT)
  • Financials
  • SEC Filings

Mergent Online also provides multiple pieces of information about a company in one place.

Once inside the database, load the desired company by typing the company name into the search box on the left side of the screen. If more than one company matches the name you entered, choose your company from the list.

Once the company profile is loaded, you have access to many pieces of company information in one place, organized under tabs. Each tab has multiple sections. You can find such information as

  • Subsidiaries
  • Business segments
  • Financials
  • Annual reports
  • SEC filings
  • Competitor listings
